What's putting off potential buyers?

TO the surprise of nobody, the deadline was again extended for the sale of the club. This ensures that it neatly equates with the closing of the transfer window, and therefore not allowing any substantial strengthening of the paper-thin squad.

The fact that Mr Moat requires all this extra time to accumulate funding doesn't inspire confidence. What is it about this club at the moment that puts off potential buyers? In recent weeks we've seen the sale of Notts County, Southampton and could add Portsmouth to that list any time soon. What is their selling point compared to ours?

Yes, they're cheaper, but can any of them match the potential earnings for investors better than us? Maybe their grounds are built on former conquering Roman Emperor's gold-encrusted holiday homes?

Whatever it is, it is patently obvious that the role played by Keith Harris from the company handling the sale is money for old rope. Twice he's failed to negotiate a sale, and if he can't sell a potential gold mine like this, then he certainly won't win the bid to sell my old Corsa.

On the field, all is sweetness and light, a very heartening victory over Neil Warpath's lads, with yet another clean sheet. I only hope this stoic attitude among the squad continues if they fail to get their dream moves to Barcelona or Wigan.

Congratulations must also go to Chris Hughton for making a decent fist of the job, and also making supporters wonder why the spirit being displayed now is being shown six months too late.

He must be allowed to bring players in to keep this momentum going, surely the note Shearer left must be there somewhere, and as he'll be appointed if Moat takes over, then surely it makes sense to pursue some of the names on there?

We've had Ashley guzzling beer with the lads, now Llambias streaking round the pitch to settle a bet, coupled with accusations of a 'Cockney Mafia' within the club. I'm not sure that we weren't bought by a stag party from the Nags Head, Peckham. Expect to see Del Boy and Rodney unveiled at a Press conference.

Finally, congratulations to the England lads for winning the Ashes. Nice to see it isn't only the Oz Rugby Union team that choke on the big occasion.

Saying that, I wish Ponting's great-great-great granddad hadn't nicked that sheep all those years ago.
