United set to offer Lovenkrands new contract
PETER LOVENKRANDS has been offered the chance to return to St James's Park this season.
The Chronicle understands the Danish international - who has not been able to find a club this summer - has been approached by United with their squad dramatically reduced in the last fortnight due to the exits of Oba Martins, Habib Beye, Sebastien Bassong and the imminent departure of Damien Duff to Fulham.
Hughton was handed the go-ahead to start recruiting players on August 10 following the 1-1 draw with West Brom, and brought in Danny Simpson on loan from Manchester United as his first signing.
