Goal hero Ameobi makes plea for new signings
GOAL hero Shola Ameobi has expressed further fears that Newcastle United's squad lacks the depth to deal with the rigours of Championship life.
But Shola was quick to pay tribute to the Geordie fans and claims it is they who are making Newcastle "fight" for their lives amid the current backdrop of a political storm and failed search for new owners.
Ameobi blasted the match-winning goal against Sheffield Wednesday, but Newcastle finished the game with both Shola and strike partner Andy Carroll nursing knocks, with the toothless Xisco and inexperienced Nile Ranger exposing the frailties of United's wafer-thin squad.
