Aston Villa close in on Magpies defenders
ASTON Villa are confident of signing Habib Beye before the week is out, and will then turn their attentions to the right-back's defensive colleague Sebastién Bassong.
The deals will leave Newcastle United caretaker manager Chris Hughton clearer as to the players available to him next season, and could provide extra funds for the club's next boss in the transfer market.
With the Magpies for sale, United have delayed off-loading their high-earners for as long as possible.
