Shearer's waiting game almost over

By Luke Edwards on Jun 16, 09 09:02 AM in Journalists

ALAN Shearer could finally be named Newcastle United's permanent manager before the end of the week as the sale of the troubled Championship club starts to gather pace.

Although it could still be a few weeks before a takeover is complete, The Journal has been told this may not prevent Shearer from being appointed if all of the groups serious about buying the club want him as manager. That would effectively take the matter out of Mike Ashley's hands and the sports shop magnate is willing to belatedly confirm Shearer as manager - as long as it can not do anything to hinder the takeover.

Anyone interested in paying the £100m asking price to take Newcastle off Ashley's hands has until tomorrow to prove they have the funds needed to go through with the deal.

At last there is a bit of light at the end of the tunnel and we have a thread of hope to cling on to, I know everyone has already said it but big AL`s appointment is well over due. Does that fat oaf not realise how much he is still damaging the club. i cannot wait for ashley and co to disapear!!!

i hope there is truth in the transfer targets as all 3 that have been mentioned in todays journal are class, especially for the championship.

i am gutted that we have been relegated, however i do believe it may be a blessing in disguise for 3 reasons!

1. get rid of the last in the cockney mafia!

2. get rid of the overpaid monkeys that failed to perform week after week and cost us our place in the elite!

3. rebuild our squad with people that truly want to wear the black and white stripes with pride!!

Hi Luke
This isn't news really, all they are saying is that whoever buys the club can appoint who they want and that may be Shearer and it may be someone else. Its up to the new owners!

I just hope that is sooner rather than later otherwise I cannot see us having a team prepared for next seasons challenge - and that's not news either!

Cheers from rainy Sydney!

Mike
