Three kings come home bearing gifts...
What a refreshing change - an away win, and by 3 goals too! Cue a bit of festive cheer!
Surely it had to happen eventually, but the result against Pompey was a great one. Kinnear's cautious first half approach worked well, and we really took the game to the opposition at times. It's fantastic to see us producing sustained attacking threats, and to see a few goals fly in for the first time in a while.
I'm becoming a bigger fan of Kinnear by the week - he's always forthright (sometimes too much), but at least we know exactly where we stand with him. Some of his substitutions have been questioned recently, but he got things spot on this week, and always goes for a safe defensive performance, and the attacking threat to get us results.
I hope this can continue against Spurs - that performance was more like what we would expect from the Toon, and has to be the start of a strong run if we're to get away from the drop-zone any time soon.
Gutierrez looked inventive, the strikers looked sharp, the defence were pretty solid, Given was amazing as ever, and it was great to see Guthrie bag his first goal. Nice one lads!
