Bramble once again ruined my Saturday
SHAKESPEARE'S Titus Andronicus is a 16th-Century bloodbath epic. It basically tells the story of a returning hero (Titus), who wreaks havoc on his tormentors and exacts terrible revenge.
Fast forward about 320 years from this early Brucius Willius, and apart from the 'returning hero' bit, you have the same scenario created by Titus Bramble on Saturday.
Incredibly, we could have gone up four or five places if we'd defended the corner properly.
We simply cannot afford to be so profligate defensively.
Luckily It's Chelski away next. I wouldn't be surprised if we won. Hopefully we'll get a bit more news on the sale of the club.
It was interesting to see the PR campaign launched last week. Our 'Directors of Silence' edged their way north for the first time in a while. The suspicion is that their appearance is the beginning of a rehabilitation period in case the sale falls flat. This is a tactic used by the current government, particularly when continually re-employing Lord Mandelson - the Terry McDermott of politics.
Coincidentally, the fella who used to run New Labour - Tony Thingummy - was in the
region last week. Coincidence? I think not. These people are damaged goods, no longer welcome. Sometimes you can bite the bullet and forgive and forget, but not in this case. Despite the sterling defence (if only ours was as reliable) offered by JFK of the Ashley regime, they should sell up and go. Join the list of former directors/owners who have profited massively from this club.
It may be naive, even foolish in football terms, but I'm one of the many supporters who would welcome the return of 'King Kev'.
Take us back to a time when going to the match was a genuinely spine- tingling experience, football in its purest form. You can look back and progress.
In Titus Andronicus, the protagonist is counselled to assuage his grief over the loss of his sons by sacrificing the son of a rival. In the end Titus is killed by Saturnius - how prophetic, Titus certainly killed my Saturnius afternoon.
Finally, good luck and best wishes to Craig Moore in his battle against cancer.
